The BCCI decided to postpone the Indian Premier League by 15 April as a precaution in view of the rising outbreak of Corona virus on 13 March. The board also asked its employees to work from home. Covid-19 cases are increasing in the country. The source said that the BCCI office is closed, so there can be no meeting there.
The Union Health Ministry said on Friday that the total number of Kovid-19 cases in India has crossed 230, including 32 foreigners. So far 23 people have been cured of this infection in the country. The 13th season of the IPL was scheduled to begin on March 29, but the board has postponed the league till April 15, given the threat of the Corona virus.
Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the decision on organizing the IPL 2020 will be taken only after 15 April. The Ministry was informed that a new advisory will be issued after April 15, only after looking at the current situation due to the dreaded corona virus. Rijiju said that BCCI has to take a decision on cricketing issues. This disease will directly affect the citizens of the country.
