The Central Government on Thursday issued a statement that no international flights will be allowed to land in India for a period of one week from 22 March. An Air India official said that the flight to Rome would leave Delhi Airport at half past two. The official said that the flight will return to Delhi after evacuating all Indians stranded in Rome on Sunday morning.
On March 15, more than 450 Indians stranded in Corona virus-affected Iran and Italy were brought back by two planes and kept in separate wards. Officials gave this information. A total of 218 Indians, mostly students, arrived from Milan at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport at about quarter to ten. He was taken to a separate ward of ITBP in Chawla in southwest Delhi.
More than 230 Indians from Iran arrived in New Delhi at around 3.15 am and were kept in a separate ward at the Indian Army Health Center in Jaisalmer. This is the third batch of Indians expelled from Iran.
Officials at IGI Airport had said that they had all reached Delhi by flight of the Great Air from Tehran and were taken by two Air India aircraft to Jaisalmer.
Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said that a total of 234 Indians have been evacuated from Iran. Defense Department spokesman Colonel Sambit Ghosh had said that 236 people arrived in Jaisalmer this morning from two Air India aircraft.
Muralitharan had tweeted that 218 Indians including 211 students from Milan (from Italy) arrived in Delhi. All will be set aside for 14 days. Wherever Indians are in trouble, the Government of India is committed to reach them.
He said that thanks to the Government of Italy, the Indian contingent in Italy, Air India and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar for their support. An airport official said that the plane from Italy landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport here at around 9.45 am.
